‘NARROWING THE GAP’ STRATEGIES & ACTIONS PROPOSED FOR 2019-2020
- Group tuition to recommence early in the Autumn term – Maths & English to address progress & attainment issues for Years 1 to Year 6
- Funding towards two Emotional Literacy Support Assistants
- Funding towards 1:1 ‘Relate’ counselling sessions
- 1:1 Maths & English tuition for pupils whose attainment and/or progress is a concern
- Support for pupils during playtimes and lunchtimes
- Daily milk for pupils currently claiming FSM not Ever on FSM
- Progress and Attainment for disadvantaged pupils started to improve in the Autumn term
- Gaps in learning were identified quicker with interventions immediately put in place in the Autumn and the start of the Spring term
- Pupils to grew in confidence, resilience and independence in all school life demonstrating this across the school and during celebration and golden book assemblies.
- Pupils started to develop communication and language skills through the curriculum, in ELSA groups and during group or 1:1 adult support
- Attendance of disadvantaged pupils continued to improve through a range of enrichment activities and support

- Tuition to support the school missed during the Covid-19 pandemic
- Group tuition to recommence early in the Autumn term – Maths & English to address progress & attainment issues
- Funding towards 1:1 ‘Relate’ counselling sessions
- 2 trained Emotional Literacy Support Assistants to support and guide pupils with emotional worries and concerns
- SENDCo support across the school to ensure that all SEND pupils receive targeted and effective interventions
- 1:1 adult support during lunchtimes for those pupils to develop social, relationship and behavioural skills
- Uniform Voucher given to PP pupils to support them with buying school uniform
- Tuition was blocked due to Covid restrictions but all pupils received high quality tuition and intervention in English and Maths
- Disadvantaged Foundation Stage pupils made progress in English and Maths
- Attainment in Maths for disadvantaged pupils was the strongest
- 67% of Year 6 Disadvantaged pupils achieved the expected standard in all subjects combined
- Counselling and Nurture support proved vital, especially during the pandemic with pupils being supported for anxiety and worries linked to school and home
- 1:1 adult support during lunchtimes proved effective with pupils receiving friendship, behavioural or emotional support at the moment when it was needed
- The school SENDCO was able to identify quickly the impact of Covid on SEND pupils and offer support to narrow the academic gaps identified
